ऊधो सूधो है गयौ, सुनि गोपिन के बोल।
ज्ञान बजाई डुगडुगी, प्रेम बजायो ढोल॥

Hindi Meaning

उद्धव ब्रज में गोपियों को ज्ञान का उपदेश देने आए थे, परंतु गोपियों की प्रेममयी वार्ता को सुनकर वे सीधे (प्रेम मार्गी) हो गए।
वे तो ज्ञान की डुगडुगी बजाने आए थे, पर यहाँ ब्रज में तो हर तरफ़ प्रेम का ढोल ही गूँज रहा था।

jnyan bajai dugadugi, prem bajayo dhol..

Transliteration

Uddho Sudho Hai Gayau, Suni Gopin Ke Bol. Gyan Bajayi Dugdugi, Prem Bajayo Dhol. - Braj Ke Dohe Uddhav stepped into Braj with the intention of teaching jñāna (knowledge) to the gopīs, but he ended up being transformed in the path of love by hearing their love-filled conversations. He had arrived beating the ‘ḍugḍugī’ (a small handheld drum) of jñāna, but in Braj, the ‘ḍhol’ (the grand drum) of prema (divine love) was being played everywhere.
