वेद भेद पायो नहीं, भए पुरान पुरान।
स्मृतिहू की सब स्मृति गई, पै न मिले भगवान॥
- श्री भारतेंदु हरिशचंद्र, भारतेंदु ग्रंथावली, भक्त सर्वस्व (8)
Hindi Meaning
वेदों को भी भगवान का रहस्य नहीं मिल पाया और पुराण उन्हें खोजते-खोजते स्वयं पुराने (जीर्ण-शीर्ण) हो गए, फिर भी वे ईश्वर की थाह न पा सके।
स्मृतियों ने भी उन्हें समझने के प्रयास में अपनी सुध-बुध खो दी, पर इन ग्रंथों मात्र से प्रभु की प्राप्ति न हुई।
सार यह है कि ईश्वर की प्राप्ति केवल निष्काम प्रेम और शरणागति से ही संभव है।

smritihu ki sab smriti gai, pai n mile bhagavan..

Ved Bhed Paayo Nahin, Bhae Puran Puran.
Smritihu Ki Sab Smriti Gai, Pai Na Mile Bhagwan.

The Vedas failed to grasp His mystery, and the Purāṇas grew ancient in their search, yet could not fathom His depth. The Smṛtis lost all consciousness attempting to comprehend Him. The essence is that the realization of God is possible only through selfless love and complete surrender (śaraṇāgati).
