बलिहारी जाऊँ जक परी, बातन बहुत दंडौत।
पालत देह कुटुंब कौं, भले समझि भागौत॥
- श्री बिहारिन देव जी, श्री बिहारिन देव जी की वाणी, सिद्धान्त की साखी (660)

Hindi Meaning

हे बिहारीदास! श्रीमद्भागवत् के वर्तमान वक्ता मुख से तो अत्यंत सरस व्याख्यान करते हैं और बार-बार दण्डवत कर विनम्रता का प्रदर्शन भी करते हैं, किन्तु जो कुछ भेंट आती है, उससे अपनी देह-कुटुंब-परिवार का ही पालन-पोषण करते हैं।
इसके विपरीत, श्री शुकदेव जी ने संपूर्ण भागवत् में संसार के विरक्ति और प्रभु-चरणों में अनन्य प्रीति का ही प्रतिपादन किया है।
उन वक्ताओं की समझ पर आश्चर्य होता है जो श्रीमद्भागवत् के वास्तविक रहस्य से सर्वथा अनभिज्ञ हैं।

balihari jaun jak pari, batan bahut dndaut.
palat deh kutunb kaun, bhale samajhi bhagaut..
- shri biharin dev ji, shri biharin dev ji ki vani, siddhant ki sakhi (660)

Transliteration

Balihari Jaun Jak Pari, Baatan Bahut Dandaut. Palat Deh Kutumb Kon, Bhale Samajh Bhagot. - Shri Biharin Dev Ji, Shri Biharin Dev Ji Ki Vani, Siddhant Ki Saakhi (660) O Bihārīdāsa! The speakers of Śrīmad Bhāgavatam often speak sweet and nectarine words and repeatedly offer prostrations (daṇḍavata), yet their hidden aim is to sustain themselves and their families through the offerings they receive. In contrast, Śrī Śukadeva Jī Mahārāja, in every word of the Bhāgavatam, has taught renunciation of worldly attachments and exclusive devotion to the lotus feet of the Lord. How surprising that such speakers fail to perceive its true essence.
