डरै सदा चाहे न कछु, सहै सबै हो होय।
रहै एक रस चाहि कै, प्रेम बखानो सोय॥
- श्री रसखान, प्रेम वाटिका (22)
Hindi Meaning
रसखान कहते हैं — जो इस भावना से डरता रहता है कि कहीं उसकी किसी चेष्टा से प्रियतम को कोई कष्ट न हो जाए, जो अपने प्रियतम से कोई भी कामना नहीं रखता, सब प्रकार की विपत्तियाँ सहकर भी जिसका प्रेम बढ़ता रहे, जो सदा एक प्रियतम के प्रेम-रस में डूबा रहता है — वही प्रेम, शुद्ध प्रेम कहलाता है।

darai sada chahe n kachhu, sahai sabai ho hoy.

Dare Sada Chahe Na Kacchu, Sahe Sabe Ho Hoy.
Rahe Ek Ras Chaahi Ke, Prem Bakhano Soy.

Raskhan says — That love alone is called pure love, in which the lover constantly fears that none of his actions should ever cause the Beloved even the slightest trouble. The one who seeks nothing in return from the Beloved, whose love continues to deepen even amidst all kinds of hardships, and who remains forever immersed in the nectar of love for the one and only Beloved — that is true, selfless love.
